MONTICELLO - The Monticello girls basketball team used a second-half surge to break away from Argyle and held on for a 28-23 win over the Orioles on Saturday.
The Ponies (3-6, 2-3 Six Rivers East) outscored the Orioles 17-4 in the second half to key the victory.
The Ponies held the Orioles scoreless in the third quarter.
Monticello junior Sadi Hilliard led the Ponies with a game-high 10 points. Argyle senior Kelsey Ostby led the Orioles with nine points. With the loss Argyle drops to 1-8, 0-5.
