MONROE - The Monroe girls soccer team already has started fund-raising for breast cancer research with the LeRoy Butler Foundation.
Many high school soccer teams will be hosting "Go Pink" games and fund-raising drives for breast cancer. At each of Monroe's home soccer games at Honey Creek Park, fans will have the opportunity to purchase "Go Pink" bracelets, raffle tickets or to make a donation. Pink donation buckets are at various busnisses to collect donations until May.
There will be 88 teams playing 50 games to raise funds to award a monetary grant to a recipient of each participating school.
The "Go Pink" fund-raiser culminates on April 24 when the Cheesemakers play at Sugar River.
Monroe will open the season at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Horeb.
