Monroe tournament hosts 424 wrestlers, 44 youth teams

MONROE - The Monroe Mat Rat Wrestling Team hosted 424 wrestlers from 44 different teams Sunday at their annual Youth Wrestling Tournament. Fifty Mat Rats competed in the tournament. With the help of many volunteers, including the families of the Mat Rat wrestlers, the Monroe High School Wrestling Team, parents, Monroe Wrestling alumni and friends, along with generous donations from sponsors, this tournament was a huge success.

The Western Dubuque Wildcats took home the first-place belt with team trophies going to Oregon Youth Wrestling, who took second-place; the Lena Area Wrestling Team, third-place; and Team Nitro from Beloit, fourth.

The Mat Rats had multiple winners. Placing first were Kayden Proctor, Blaine Fletcher, Abram Homb, Joah Wellman, Jaden Leistiko, Elijah Phillips, Carson Menehan, Garret Voegeli and Jaden Clark.

Placing second were Briggs Hoesly, Oliver Helland, Beau Hoesly, Patrick Harms, Wyatt Weckerly, Riley Jo Love, Carsen Bartholf, Garrett Minder, Christian Schuh, Jack Dubach and Brady Schuh.

Placing third were Lilly Andersen, Eli Salzwedel, Grant Ula, Tristen Vazquez, Molly Patterson, Chelsey Gilbert, Trevor Schmitt, Jace Amacher and Isaac Bunker.

Placing fourth were Ashton Laws, Landon Quinn, Keaton Larson, Brody Eberle, Memphis Brewster, Waylan Andersen, Dylan Mader, Grace Andersen, Gage Jelle, Noah Schuh, Tristen Laws, Cameron Baker, Aydan Leopold, Tanner Ekum-Hilliard, Owen Voegeli, Payton Weckerly, Alitta Saxer, Owen Douglas, Anthony Wels, Nathaniel Baker and Riley Goebel.
