STOUGHTON - In the six-year history of the Monroe High School soccer program, the Cheesemakers have never experienced a win over Stoughton.
That changed Tuesday as the Cheesemakers defeated the Vikings 3-0 in Badger South Conference action.
Senior Andrew Aurit scored a goal and added an assist and senior goalkeeper Jordan Steurer made 18 saves to lead the Cheesemakers.
Junior Kelli Isaj gave Monroe a 1-0 lead by taking a pass from Aurit and scoring a goal at 29 minutes, 13 seconds.
During the first half, junior right defenseman Sam Keizer was injured and did not return. Junior Matt Bodeau filled in for Kizer and helped shut down the Vikings the rest of the way.
In the second half, Aurit made a great move around the goalie and scored an unassisted goal in the 48th minute.
Senior Godi Brandli scored an unassisted goal at 70 minutes, 26 seconds to close out the scoring for the Cheesemakers.
"We've been passing much better as a team and it's paying off," said Tony Stamm, Monroe head coach.
Next for the Cheesemakers is the Sugar River Raiders at home, Thursday, in non-conference action.
