Monroe to host Legion bowling state tourney

MONROE - Monroe will host the American Legion Auxiliary's Wisconsin State Bowling Tournament Saturday, Sunday, April 8 and April 9 at Leisure Lanes.

Green County Auxiliary Unit members from Monroe, New Glarus and Albany coordinated the special event, which is held each year around the state.

Opening ceremonies will be held both Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Play begins at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. both Saturdays and at 9 a.m. and noon both Sundays. The public is invited to attend.

Rose Wenger, Department of Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary past president, said 22 teams from around the state will be participating in the bowling tournament.

Competing in the tournament includes other social events, raffles, door prizes and welcome packets, provided by local Auxiliary units and the Green County Welcome Center. Cheese tray samples will be distributed by several Green County Ag Chest Dairy Queens both weekends.
