MONROE - The Monroe Mat Rats Tournament Sunday was a great showing of support with just over 225 wrestlers and 46 Mat Rats wrestling in a four-man bracket tournament. Monroe finished third as a team.
In the kindergarten through second grade bracket, first place winners were Caleb Bunker, Luke Dubach, Max Golembiewski, Brock Hummel, Brady Schuh, and Garret Voegeli. Six wrestlers finished second place including Cash Anderson, Gannon Dunlavey, Liam Hermanson, Caleb Lincicum, Zack Steele, and Autticah Symons.
Four wrestlers took third place including Logan Blum, Isaac Bunker, Dayne Garwell and Max Patterson. Fourth place finishes went to Tristan Anglin, Jack Dubach, Bryce Gersbach, Evan Guenther, Corbin Mann, and Cole Meier.
In the third and fourth grade bracket, three wrestlers finished first including Wyatt Heimann, Nicholas Schumacher and Alex Witt. Four wrestlers finished second place including Cole Lincicum, Bodie Minder, Aidan Sweeney and Gabe Witt. Three wrestlers took third place including Kyle Gilbertson, Patrick Rielly and Brady Wilhite. Garrett Grossen and Lucas Quinn each finished fourth.
In the fifth and sixth grade bracket, first place went to Sam Kind and Cole Murray. Drake Ingold took second place. Parker Ingold and Gavin Jordan each finished third. Fourth place went to Dempzy Foley and Dante Green.
Lastly, in the seventh and eighth grade brackets, Brad Brausen and Traiten Gorr each took second. Three wrestlers finished fourth including Joel Faith, McKenzy Foley and Ryan Stoneback.
