REEDSBURG - Monroe finished the Badger Conference wrestling tournament in eighth-place, amassing 140 points in the 13-team tournament Saturday.
Three Cheesemakers grabbed third-place honors, Kevin Klopfenstein (119 pounds), Dylan Schwitz (145) and Mason Goff (152).
Klopfenstein, a freshman, knocked off Kolt Bode of Baraboo in double-overtime in the third-place match, 3-2.
Schwitz, a junior who was Monroe's lone qualifier for state a year ago, was pinned in the semifinals by Oregon's David Beers in 3 minutes, 53 seconds. Schwitz pinned Fort Atkinson's Seth Saude in 2:54 in the third-place match.
Goff, a senior, lost his semifinal match to DeForest's Bryar Harper via pin (5:24). In the third-place match, Goff defeated Stoughton's Greg Krantz with a 7-1 decision.
Dillon Weckerly was also in position for a medal. The senior lost to Sauk Prairie's James Wixom in the 171-pound semifinals, 4-3, and was pinned by Oregon's Dustin Lee in the third-place match in 4:05.
Nick Walker, a junior in his second season of wrestling, finished in fifth in the heavyweight division. Walker pinned DeForest's Austin Hatzinger in 2:11 in the fifth-place match.
