PRAIRIE DU SAC - The Monroe boys golf team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Sauk Prairie Invitational Monday at the Lake Wisconsin Golf Course.
Milton and Reedsburg tied for the team title with a 321. However, the Red Hawks won the championship on a scorecard tiebreaker on the hole with the highest handicap. The Cheesemakers shot a 361.
"I think we could have done better," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "We struggled a little bit. We were a little rusty. We haven't been out there in a while."
Monroe senior Collyn Wilde shot an 81 to lead the Cheesemakers. Sophomore Noah Becker carded an 85. Wilde birdied No. 2 and 6 and racked up eight pars. Wilde also had four double bogeys. Becker finished with six pars.
"If he would have gotten bogeys on those he would have been in the 70s," Rindy said.
Monroe junior Jack Rogerson shot a 94 and Kevin Schmidt carded a 101.
"We need everyone to drop from where they were at today," Rindy said.
Monroe plays in a Badger South Conference mini meet at Fort Atkinson today.
