Monroe seventh-grade team hosts Cheesemakers Shoot-Out

MONROE - The Monroe Middle School seventh-grade boys basketball team will host the Cheesemakers Shoot-Out today at Monroe High School.

The 12-team tournament begins at 9 a.m. The championship games are at 3:30 p.m. The tournament is sponsored by Vince's Restaurant and Pizzeria.

The other teams participating are Appleton East, Darlington, DeForest, Franklin, Janesville, Milton, Muskego, Mukwonago, Platteville, Stoughton and Waunakee. Waunakee was the tournament champion last year.

Monroe will play Muskego at 9 a.m. and Milton at 11 a.m. Monroe also will play at 1:30 p.m.

Monroe enters the tournament having won its past 10 games.

"Our schedule to begin the season was a challenge, as we faced many top teams in the Milwaukee and Fox Valley area," coach Kevin Leuzinger said. "The boys have grown from those tournaments and are playing very well.

Monroe ends its season at the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament in La Crosse on March 25-26.
