PRAIRIE DU SAC - Monroe junior running back Cole Murray rushed for 182 yards on 35 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the Cheesemakers to a 29-14 win over Sauk Prairie in a non-conference game Friday.

Monroe (4-4, 1-4 Badger South) racked up 368 total yards and gashed the Eagles for 306 total rushing yards.

"We were really able to dominate the line of scrimmage, which is how you win football games," Monroe coach Curt Miller said. "A lot of credit to our offensive line for getting the job done tonight."

Murray had a 1-yard TD run with about 9 minutes left in the first quarter. Monroe senior Cam Shaw then connected with senior Garrett Gogin on a two-point conversion pass to give the Cheesemakers an 8-0 lead. Murray also scored on a 9-yard run late in the first quarter to give the Cheesemakers a 14-7 lead.

Monroe junior quarterback Tyler Elmer scored a touchdown on a sneak early in the second quarter. Elmer then hooked up with Gogin on a two-point conversion pass to give the Cheesemakers a 22-7 lead at the half.

Monroe junior fullback Isaac Allen had a 1-yard TD plunge on the Cheesemakers' first possession of the third quarter to put the game away. Allen rushed for 114 yards on 22 carries and scored one touchdown. Elmer completed 4 of 5 passes for 62 yards.

Monroe will close out the season with a Badger South Conference game at Fort Atkinson next week. With a win, the Cheesemakers can clinch their first winning season since 2003.

"We want to win our next game for the kids and this group so they can call themselves a winning football team," Miller said.
