Monroe pounds Ridgeway

RIDGEWAY - Monroe's Mitch Marty was a catalyst in setting the table for the Monroe Brewers in a Home Talent Night League game against Ridgeway Thursday night.

Marty was on base every time he batted, going 3-for-3 with two walks to lead the Brewers to a 9-1 win. Monroe (4-2 Night League) scored four runs in the first inning. Marty and Kramer Henning both walked. Brewers co-player manager Rooney Janecke then bunted for a single to load the bases. Matt Busjahn then knocked in the first run on a grounder and co-player manager Lon Scheuerell drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Taylor Riese delivered an RBI single and Drew Geissbuhler's sacrifice fly gave the Brewers a 4-0 lead.

Kris Rieder pitched six innings and gave up one unearned run on seven hits. He struck out five and walked one.

Marty singled in the fourth and Henning followed with an RBI single. Busjahn reached on an error and a run scored to give the Brewers a 6-1 lead. Scheuerell was hit by a pitch and Adam Sigenthaler had an RBI groundout. In other action, Wiota defeated Hollandale 11-9.
