MONROE - The Monroe Optimists No. 1 softball team pounded out 11 hits on its way to an 11-0 win over Argyle on Sunday.
Hannah Vetterli lead the offense, going 4-for-4 with a double and drove in six runs. Natalie Dillon and Carly Upmann combined to allow only three hits while striking out 12 in the circle.
In other Red League games, Orangeville raised its summer league record to 2-0 with a 7-3 win over Brodhead, and Orfordville was a 15-13 winner over Juda.
In White League action, Monroe Optimists No. 2 broke an 8-8 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh and hung on to beat New Glarus 10-9. Kirstin Rood, Kaylynn Conway, Jessie Bennett and Hailey Betthauser all had multiple-hit games for Monroe.
Hailey Betthauser allowed only one hit and struck out four in 22⁄3 innings of relief to pick up the win.
In other White League games, Monticello beat Pecatonica 4-3, and Black Hawk improved its summer league record to 2-0 with a 1-0 win over Warren.
