OREGON - The Monroe-New Glarus girls swim team set 17 personal records and for the first time in five years the Cheesemakers won a Badger South Conference dual meet, swimming to a 99-70 win over Oregon-Belleville on Tuesday.

"I am so happy for them and as always so proud of them," Monroe-New Glarus coach Linda Moser said. "It has been many years of building to be able to win a dual meet, but the most important part is still knowing they had 17 PRs. That shows they are improving and getting closer to their goals and our team goal."

Monroe junior Skylar Lassen won the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 2 minutes, 25.06 seconds, and she won the 100 backstroke in 1:13.52.

Monroe sophomore Grace Keith won the 50 freestyle (30.28) and the 400 freestyle (5:07.21). New Glarus sophomore Maddie Hammer also won two events - the 200 individual medley (2:43.52) and the 100 breaststroke (1:22.66).

Senior Anna Wolf won the 100 butterfly (1:15.28).

Monroe senior Abby Oudinot teamed with Hammer, senior Anna Meritt and Keith to win the 200 medley relay (2:13.37).

The Cheesemakers' 200 freestyle relay team of Oudinot, Meritt, Lassen and Hammer won with a time of 2:01.24.

New Glarus freshman Nina Schiro teamed with Wolf, Lassen and Keith to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:31.08).

The Cheesemakers swept the top two spots in the 200 freestyle, 200 IM and 50 freestyle. Schiro took second in the 200 IM (2:48.76), and Wolf posted a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:31.90). Oudinot finished second in the 50 freestyle (30.36) and second in the 100 freestyle (1:07.19).

"Every girl on the team contributed by swimming strong and tough," Moser said.

The Monroe junior varsity team tied Oregon-Belleville at 27.

Monroe-New Glarus will host Stoughton in a dual meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 6.
