OREGON - The Monroe Cheesemakers took first place in four individual events, including a first place finish in the 200 meter medley relay, but fell short to Oregon, 94-76, Tuesday.
The 200 meter medley relay team of Randi Robertson, Leanna Schwartzlow and Kendell Niffenegger won with a time of 2 minutes, 16.04 seconds.
Monroe captured the 100 meter backstroke with Rachel Root taking first (1:10.67) and Robertson finishing second (1:15.07). In the 100 meter breaststroke, Jessica Weeden was first with a time of 1 minute, 21.11 seconds and Schwartzlow took second in 1:23.01. Weeden also had a first place finish in the 200 meter freestyle in 2 minutes, 16.01 seconds and Schwartzlow won the 200 meter individual medley in 2:35.60.
"On the whole, our times were a little sluggish in comparison to last week, but we had some swimmers set personal records," said Linda Moser, Monroe head coach. "Leanna Schwartzlow took a second off her 200 individual time and Cat Weeden dropped her 400 time by seven seconds and her 200 time by four seconds."
The 400 meter free relay team of Weeden, Sara Heitkamp, Robertson, and Root took third with a time of 4 minutes, 31.41 seconds.
Oregon defeated Monroe in the junior varsity meet, 90-47. The Cheesemakers will host Fort Atkinson, Tuesday.
