MONROE - The Monroe Brewers knocked off the Hollandale Rockies in a Home Talent Night League game Thursday, 8-2.

Monroe (7-2) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed after.

Kris Rieder got the win on the hill for Monroe, tossing three innings. Ben Korth threw the first two for Monroe and Michael Cleary closed it out. Together, Monroe's pitchers struck out seven batters and scattered five hits.

Mitch Marty led all hitters by going 3-for-4 with an RBI for Monroe. Rooney Janecke was 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the first inning for the Brewers. Paul Schindler and Cleary each collected RBIs for Monroe.

Tanner Kleppe had an RBI for Hollandale.

Monroe hosts Hollandale again Sunday in the Sunday League regular season finale. If Monroe wins, the Brewers clinch a first-round bye in next week's playoffs.

The Brewers' Night League regular season finale is Monday at home against Orfordville.
