MADISON - The Monroe High School boys golf team finished 14th out of 21 teams in the Madison Edgewood Invitational on Monday at Maple Bluff Country Club.

Middleton edged Edgewood by one shot for the title 313-314. Madison Memorial placed third (315). Monroe shot a season-worst 344 for 14th.

"We were very surprised by that," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "We were shocked. We don't have any excuses. The weather was absolutely perfect. It wasn't windy. We feel like we can do better than that. We were disappointed in what happened."

Middleton's Joey Levin shot a 2-under-par 69 to take medalist honors. Madison Memorial's Logan Knecht shot a 1-under-70 to finish second.

Junior Nick Baumann shot a team-best 82 for the Cheesemakers. Senior teammate Tanner Thompson shot an 84 and junior Devon Boeck carded an 88. Junior teammate Kyle Krebs rounded out the top four for the Cheesemakers, shooting a 90.

Monroe will host Stoughton at 3:30 p.m. today in a Badger South dual match at the Monroe Country Club.
