SPRING GREEN - In a tuneup for the Badger Conference tournament, Monroe defeated Reedsburg 2-1 to help the South win the Badger Cup Tuesday, May 14.
The Badger South edged the North 11.5-9.5 in a series of match play results. Monroe junior Eric Timm won a match play matchup against Reedsburg's top player. Monroe's Matt Miller and Caleb Pagel won a best ball matchup against the Beavers. Tanner Thompson and Aaron Hesgard lost an alternate shot matchup to the Beavers.
"It's nice because the kids get a chance to relax and see the course they will play for conference," Monroe golf coach Braden Rindy said of the Springs Golf Course.
Monroe (1-5 Badger South) is tied with Oregon for last place in the Badger South heading into today's conference tournament.
"It would be nice if we could get out of last place," Rindy said. "Eric Timm and Matt Miller would like to make all-conference."
The top seven golfers earn all-conference honors.
