STOUGHTON - The Monroe volleyball team's losing streak in the Badger South Conference has reached 15 matches.

Stoughton swept the Cheesemakers 25-10, 26-24, 25-15 Thursday. With the loss, Monroe drops to 3-11, 0-3 Badger South. The Cheese-makers are 1-38 in conference play the past five years.

"Although the scores don't reflect the intensity Monroe played with, we just couldn't pull out the win," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. "We did get to tips better tonight; however, we got caught on some short serves."

Monroe senior Hannah Vetterli and sophomore Sydney Mathiason each posted five kills. Juniors Alicia Kuester and Lexus Trickel both added four kills. Senior teammate Paige Murphy had a team-high 13 assists. Junior Chloe Schroeder had a team-best four blocks and notched two digs.

After dropping the first set, the Cheesemakers rebounded with a strong second set.

"We really stepped it up in the second set and played a really great game full of scrappy play, hard hits and solid blocks," Witt said. "We were hoping that momentum would carry over into the third set. Monroe could not gain a lead and got caught on short serves again."
