Monroe falls to Reedsburg

REEDSBURG - After being held scoreless for the entire first half, the Monroe football team scored a third-quarter touchdown against Reedsburg to make it interesting, but the Beavers pulled away in the fourth to defeat the Cheesemakers 24-8.

Senior running back Trent Wyssbrod had a solid game on the ground, rushing for 98 yards on 11 carries. He opened the scoring for the Cheesemakers in the third quarter, and senior quarterback Alex Barenklau followed up by connecting with junior Noah Thompson on the two-point conversion to cut Reedsburg's lead to 10-8. Barenklau finished the night 9 for 20 with 102 yards and one interception.

Reedsburg scored 14 unanswered points in the final frame, putting the game out of reach.

The Beavers were led by senior running back Aaron Lopp, who racked up 133 yards on just 18 carries (an average of just over seven yards per carry).
