MINERAL POINT - Taking on state powerhouse Mineral Point doesn't always look good in the final score for any team. For Monroe, it was no different.

The Pointers dominated Monroe Thursday night handing the Cheesemakers a 60-16 loss.

Gavin Wels snagged the Cheesemakers only win, a 12-0 major decision win over Mineral Point's Garrett Smart in the 112 pound division.

"Gavin Wels wrestled very well tonight," Monroe head coach Jeriamy Jackson said. "He continues to wrestle without making mistakes and this is what allows him to dominate his opponents."

Michael Ingold (189) and Lucas Leu (285) received wins via forfeit.

However, Monroe didn't get completely shut down by the Pointers. The Cheesemakers forfeited four of the other 11 matches.

"It is tough to go into a match like tonight and get anything rolling," Jackson said. "They have a lot more mat experience on their side and it shows, they are a very good team."

Brodhead 52, Big Foot 27

WALWORTH - Seven Cardinals won by pin in Brodhead-Juda's big win Thursday night over conference foe Walworth Big Foot-Williams Bay.

Devin Seitz (145), Brandon Hart (171), Dan Douglas (189), Cody Spooner (215), Josh Mchoes (103), Casey Lanham (112) and Jeremy Rosheisen (125) all won via pin.

Brodhead's Cale Zettle led off the night with a major decision win over James Loitila in the 135 pound match.

The only other match the Cardinals won was a forfeit at 130.

Four of Big Foot's five wins on the night were by pin.
