LAKE GENEVA - The Cheesemakers finished fourth as a team at Tuesday's WIAA Division 2 golf regional at Geneva National (Trevino Course).
Monroe took a combined 344 strokes to finish the 18-hole course. Madison Edgewood edged Edgerton by a single stroke for the team title (314-315) and McFarland (330) was second. Brodhead-Juda was seventh with a total tally of 368.
Monroe was led by junior Kyle Bruce, who shot a 78, which was tied for fifth overall. Jessy Stagliano was 11th with an 82, Ice Yossapron came in 26th with an 89, and freshman Eric Timm capped Monroe's scoring with a 95.
Senior Dylon Wilde struggled throughout parts of the course and came into the 18th hole with an 88. But the 18th was especially grueling for Wilde, as he carded a 13, the highest total on the hole in the field.
Brodhead junior Josh Strehlow tied Clinton's Eric Gunderson with an 87 and fourth overall in the individual, non-team qualifying standings. In the first hole of a playoff, Strehlow bogeyed while Gunderson had a 2-putt par to advance.
Senior Kurtis Johnson shot an 88 for the Cardinals, Tyler Welsh had a 92 and Gavin Roth ended with a 101.
The sectional is scheduled for May 31 at Evansville Golf Club.
Division 3, Mineral Point Regional
MINERAL POINT - Darlington advanced as a team after posting a 331 score at Dodge Point Country Club during Tuesday's golf regional.
The Redbirds finished tied with Southwestern. Cuba City defeated Lancaster in a tiebreaker for the team title, finishing with 324 strokes on the 18-hole course.
Alex Schulte carded a 79 for Darlington and teammate Bryan Reichling shot an 81. The two Redbirds finished tied for fifth and ninth in the individual standings.
A.J. Brandt carded an 85 and Zach McArthur finished with an 86 to cap Darlington's scoring.
New Glarus junior Lucas Lagen advanced an as individual after carding a 78, which was tied for third overall on the day.
Pecatonica-Argyle's Grant Barnes and New Glarus' Eric Anderson each shot an 84 and finished one spot out of forcing a playoff for the final individual spot at sectional. Christopher Severson, a Pec-Argyle freshman, shot an 85.
Pec-Argyle was eighth as a team with a 367 and New Glarus come in sixth (341).
The area sectional is scheduled to be in New Glarus on May 31 at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club.
