MONROE - The Monroe boys tennis team dominated singles play and edged Jefferson in a dual match 4-3 on Tuesday.
Monroe (1-3, 0-2 Badger South) won three of the four singles matches. Monroe senior Silas Setterstrom at No. 1 singles defeated Jefferson's Blake Drays 6-0, 6-1. Senior Ryan Peterson at No. 2 singles beat Jefferson's Tyler Seisser 6-0, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, senior Nick Baumann defeated Jefferson's Matthew Thompson 6-0, 6-0. Jefferson's Ray Kawamura at No. 4 singles defeated Monroe's Quinn Walsh 6-2, 6-4.
The other win for the Cheesemakers came from seniors Alex Tordoff and Nathan Smith at No. 1 doubles. Tordoff and Smith defeated Mason Lindemoen and Cole Fredrick 6-4, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Jefferson's Ryan Messer and Tim Felton beat Monroe seniors Ross Oxenrider and Jacob Kind 3-6, 7-6, 6-1. Monroe's Scott Foley and Zeke Frankford at No. 3 doubles lost to Matthew Thomas and Ben Hesse 6-4, 6-3.
