OREGON - The Monroe boys golf team struggled with the narrow fairways and the Cheesemakers lost a dual to Oregon, 160-167.
"Oregon kind of has a quirky course," Monroe coach Jeriamy Jackson said.
Tight holes with houses surrounding the course expanded the out-of-bounds territory, which proved to be pitfalls for the Cheesemakers, Jackson said.
"If we would have been on our course, I think we would have beat them by several strokes," Jackson said. "If you stray even a little bit, you are out of bounds. Our guys are pretty aggressive. That's not a course you can do that on."
Monroe senior Brandon Wilson shot a 38 to lead the Cheesemakers. Fellow senior Mitch McArdle shot a 40 and Aaron Krattiger carded a 44. Kyle Bruce finished with a 45 to round out the top four for the Cheesemakers.
Monroe (2-3 Badger South) will host its Best Ball tournament today and will have its last conference dual match at Milton on May 12.
