Monroe, Brodhead score at Beloit Invite

BELOIT - Monroe finished 20th overall at the 25-team Beloit Memorial Golf Invitational at Krueger Haskell Golf Course Friday.

Sophomore Kyle Bruce carded a 5-over-par 75 for the Cheesemakers, good enough for the third lowest score in the meet. Bruce birdied the Par-5 sixth and went into a scorecard playoff, finishing seventh and receiving his first varsity 18-hole match medal.

Lucas Jordan was Monroe's second-best finisher, carding a 99.

Brodhead took 19th overall, beating the Cheesemakers by one stroke (375-376). Jake Cole shot an 80, Josh Strehlow carded a 93 and Kurtis Johnson had a 99.

Lake Geneva Badger won the meet with a total score of 306. Sun Prairie's Tyler Cobb carded a 1-under-par 69 to pace all players.

Mineral Point meet

MINERAL POINT - Darlington took third and Pecatonica-Argyle finished seventh at the eight-team invitational in Mineral Point Thursday.

Zach McArthur led the Redbirds with a 44 and teammate Bryan Reichling carded a 45. Lucas Bergeson added a 48 for Darlington.

Argyle was led by Sean Shilling with a 48.

Cuba City won the meet with a team score of 165. Iowa-Grant had a 171, Darlington 187, Mineral Point 197, Southwestern 202, Fennimore 206, Pecatonica-Argyle 210 and Barneveld was last with a 219.
