MONROE - Less than a week after a loss to Oregon, the Monroe High School boys basketball team turned the tables on the Panthers.

The Cheesemakers upended Oregon 54-43 in a Badger South Conference game on Thursday. The Panthers had beaten Monroe 45-38 last Friday.

Senior Alex Tordoff led three Cheesemakers in double figures Thursday with 13 points. Senior Carter Sawdey added 12 points, and junior Brayden Zettle chipped in 11, including three 3-pointers.

Monroe (8-3, 3-4) buckled down on defense in the first half, forcing turnovers and turning them in to easy baskets, to gain a 27-15 advantage.

Monroe's lead grew to 20 points in the second half. Oregon chipped away at the margin but the Cheesemakers made their free throws down the stretch to ensure the win.

In the game, Tordoff was 7-of-10 from the free-throw line, and Sawdey was 4-for-5.

Michael Landry paced Oregon with 16 points.
