Monroe boys co-op ties Milton 1-1

MILTON - The Monroe boys co-op hockey team looked to be on the brink of winning its second Badger South Conference game this season against Milton Friday.

However, after three periods and overtime, the Cheesemakers tied the Red Hawks 1-1. With the tie, Monroe is now 3-15-2 overall and 1-8-1 in the Badger South Conference.

Monroe sophomore Payton Stauffacher scored a game-tying goal on an assist by freshman Cade Janecke at the end of the first period to tie the game at 1. It stayed that way even through the extras session.

Monroe sophomore goalie Heath Bear had 42 saves. The Cheesemakers outshot the Red Hawks 51-43. Monroe had five penalties including three in the second period.
