Monroe Avalanche skates to two wins

The Monroe Avalanche varsity team shut out Peoria 4-0 Saturday afternoon before skating to a tie in the evening, 1-1. On Sunday, the Avalanche defeated Joliet 6-2.

Ian Zimmerman scored the first goal for the Avalanche on an ssist from Luke Newcomer.

Drew Nafzger scored a goal on an assist from John Becker in the second period. Brandon Mortimer added a second period goal on an assist from Drew Geissbuhler to give Monroe a 3-0 win.

Taylor Riese scored a shorthanded goal on an assist from Mortimer to put Peoria away.

In the 6-2 win over Joliet, Ron Draves scored two goals to lead Monroe. Brandli, Nigel Tourdot, Mitch Riese added goals in the victory.
