MONROE - The Cheesemakers found themselves trailing early to a talented Silver Eagles squad in a matchup between Badger South rivals in Monroe on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Monroe could not find an answer for Monona Grove's offense, as the Cheesemakers lost 5-0.
"I thought we played a good game," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "(But) we were overwhelmed by their (Monona Grove's) speed and athleticism. They have a great team that always gives us a tough matchup."
The Eagles fist score came at 15 minutes, and 17 seconds in the first half, and by halftime led 3-0. In the end, Monona Grove finished with 18 shots, compared to the Cheesemakers' 10.
Sugar River 4, Columbus 0
BELLEVILLE - In a Capitol Conference matchup, the Sugar River soccer team cruised to an easy 4-0 victory over the visiting Columbus Cardinals.
Vanessa Narveson scored the Raiders lone goal in the first half at 28 minutes, 37 seconds. In the second half, the Raiders erupted for three goals, coming by way of Nicole Sanders (44:31), Taylor Legler (46:53), and Jamie Ott (67:54).
With the win, the Raiders move to 7-2 on the season, including a 4-1 record in conference play.
