Mite A's fall in OT to Oregon

On Sunday, the Monroe Avalanche Mite A team traveled to Sun Prairie for the WAHA state hockey playoffs and lost to Oregon Mite A 3-2 in overtime.

In the first period, Cade Janecke opened the scoring for the Avalanche with a break away goal. Monroe led the game 1-0, then 30 seconds later Oregon tied the game 1-1. Monroe then scored again in the first period to take the lead 2-1, when Emma Ness went coast to coast for the score.

Oregon answered in the second period to tie the score at 2-2. There was no scoring in the third period and the game went into overtime. During the sudden-death overtime period, Oregon struck first to win the game 3-2. Payton Stauffacher had 11 saves in the contest.
