Mite A, B teams skate to fast start

MONROE - The Monroe Youth Hockey Association is proud to have two outstanding Mite teams (kids ages 8 and under). Both teams are off to a strong start to their seasons. The Mite A record is 3-2, and the Mite B record, 0-1-1.

Both teams held games on Saturday, Nov. 6 and Sunday, Nov. 7. Mite A traveled to Verona on Saturday and defeated the Southwest A team, with a score of 6-4. Cade Janecke had two goals and one assist. Tessa Janecke had a hat trick (three goals) and three assists; and Broc Kuberski had one goal. Heath Bear, goalie, had nine saves. Alyssa Knauf, Haley Knauf, Anika Einbeck and Bryce Montgomery each had one assist.

On Sunday, Mite A faced off against Stoughton A at home, but lost 6-4. Cade Janecke and Tessa Janecke each had two goals. Haley Knauf and Anika Einbeck each had one assist. Goalie Heath Bear had nine saves.

Also on Sunday, Mite B played Stoughton 2 and lost 10-1, with Bryce Montgomery scoring the only goal. Camden Steinmann at goalie had 35 saves.

Mite A plays in Monroe against Southwest A on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 8:30 a.m. Mite B plays at the Janesville Ice Arena the same day at 1:10 p.m.
