Mite A, B host tournament

MONROE - The Monroe Mite A and B teams hosted a tournament this weekend at the Stateline Ice and Community Expo.

The Mite B team lost its first game, 10-0, to Middleton B, then lost the second game, 5-3, to Middleton C.

Against Middleton, Heath Bear had 21 saves, Broc Kuberski had two goals and Payton Stauffacher had a goal.

The Mite B team still made the championship game and beat Beaver Dam B, 2-1, winning the tournament championship. Payton Stauffacher had two goals in the game while Luke Kuberski had an assist. Heath Bear had 16 saves in the contest.

In its first game of the Mite A tournament, Monroe lost to a tough Beaver Dam A team, 7-0. In the loss, Payton Stauffacher had 17 saves.

In their second game of the tournament, the Avalanche took on the eventual tournament champions Kenosha Mite A. Monroe lost, 6-1, with Cade Janecke scoring the only goal. Payton Stauffacher had 19 saves.

In the fifth place game of the tournament Monroe Mite A took on La Crescent, Minn., Mite A. Monroe redeemed itself, winning 8-2.

Joe Wyss poured in four goals and had an assist, while Anika Einbeck, Janecke, Travis Edmunds and Emma Ness each scored one goal. Heath Bear had two assists, while Tessa Janecke and Riley Jones each had an assist.
