SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk senior Brody Milz was named second-team Associated Press All-State at linebacker Friday.
The AP released its all-state team Friday. Milz racked up 163 tackles this season with 16.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks to go along with three interceptions, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Milz was a two-way starter for the Warriors for four years. He helped Black Hawk get to the WIAA Division 7 state championship game where the Warriors lost to Bangor 37-14.
The latest honor comes on the heels of Milz being named the Six Rivers Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the year. He rushed for 1,685 yards with 28 touchdowns and averaged 9.4 yards per carry. He had nine catches for 127 yards and one touchdown. In addition to the conference honors, Milz was named Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Division 7 All-State at linebacker and running back.
Milz was an integral member of a senior class that went 35-12 in their career at Black Hawk. The Warriors brought home the silver trophy in their third state title game. Black Hawk won the state championship game and gold ball in 2013.
Milz said after the season he plans top play football in college. Milz has been discussing college football opportunities with three Division III schools in the University of Wisconsin - UW-Whitewater, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Eau Claire - as well as Division II colleges Bemidji State University in Minnesotas north woods, the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota and Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota.
