MILTON - Milton, ranked No. 3 in the Division 1 Wisconsin Wrestling Online poll, posted seven pins en route to knocking off Monroe 74-6 Friday.

The only match the Cheesemakers won came from junior Traiten Gorr at 220 pounds. Gorr was leading Milton's Gavin Chesmore 7-0 in the third period and working on a pin. Chesmore was called for stalling for the fourth time and Gorr ended up winning the match on a disqualification due to the fourth stalling call.

"There is a reason they (Milton) are ranked No. 3 in the state," Monroe coach Tom Witt said. "They are really solid and they are all healthy."

Nine of the Red Hawks wrestlers are ranked in the top 10 in the state or are honorable mention in the rankings.

The Cheesemakers bumped sophomore Cole Murray up to 132 pounds. Milton's Tristan Woods defeated Murray in a close match 4-2. It's the second straight year Murray has lost to Woods 4-2.

Monroe along with Black Hawk-Darlington will wrestle in the Verona Duals today.
