MONROE - Badger South Conference foe Milton escaped with four victories out of seven matchups against the Cheesemakers on Friday, splitting both the singles and doubles events.

Picking up wins for Monroe were junior Jeremy Miller in the third singles pairing, and freshman Silas Setterstrom in the fourth and final singles match. Miller earned his victory in straight sets over Milton's Jackson Van Den Heuvel, taking the first set 6-4 and the second set 6-1. Setterstrom finished in straight sets as well, topping Milton's Bobby Hanna 6-2 in both sets.

The Cheesemakers got their lone doubles victory in the first double matchup with the duo of senior Mark Jenson and junior Kevin Noriega. The pair lost their first set 4-6 to Milton seniors Eric Berthiaume and Eric Grote, but bounced back with 6-3 and 6-4 sets to get the victory.

Monroe coach Brad Saugstad sees the progression that his players are making and is optimistic that his team's improvement will continue.

"As a team, we started to look better tonight," Saugstad said. "We've shown improvements in each match we have played this year and hopefully those improvements can turn into some wins."

The Cheesemaker's next challenge will be Fort Atkinson on Tuesday, April 29.
