MILTON - The Monroe volleyball team battled Milton in a Badger South Conference match Thursday before falling to the Red Hawks in four sets 19-25, 17-25, 25-22, 12-25.
"Monroe definitely proved they could play with the reigning conference champs," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. "However, a few missteps in communication and service errors didn't help in the final outcome. We did so many things good, but we just need to be more consistent more often. We have to continue to work hard and believe in our abilities and we will continue to compete."
Monroe senior Alicia Kuester had a team-high 15 kills. Junior teammate Sydney Mathiason added 12 kills and three blocks for the Cheesemakers.
Senior Hannah Neuenschwander racked up a team-best 31 assists. Senior teammate Lexi Hilliard had 17 digs and two aces.
Both the Milton freshman and junior varsity teams swept Monroe in three sets.
