OREGON - The Cheesemakers had three first-place finishes and a slew of personal records in a 117-53 loss to Oregon.

Rachel Root took first in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 35.32 seconds. Root also won the 100 backstroke (1:08.45) and teamed with Cat Weeden, Angie Beaver and Sarah Kind to win the 200 freestyle relay.

Monroe's 200 medley relay team of Weeden, Kind, Root and Lizzy Dale came in second (2:20.58). The Cheesemakers also picked up four third-place finishes.

"We had several PR's," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "Several aren't listed in the top three finishing spots."

Brianna Katzenberger dropped 30 seconds off of her 200 freestyle, but came in fourth. Anika Nelson dropped over 30 seconds in the 400 freestyle, but like Katzenberger, took fourth.

"Cat Weeden also swam a PR in the 200 IM, but came in fifth," Moser said. "These are just a few examples of how the score doesn't tell the whole picture and how the girls are improving each week."

Monroe is home next Tuesday when Fort Atkinson comes to town.

"This, too, will be another tough dual meet," Moser said.
