DARLINGTON - Race fans and drivers alike will have a final chance this year to enjoy a day of racing at the Lafayette County Speedway in Darlington.
The rained out Jack Roth Memorial Race will be held Sunday.
The event has been reformulated as a special end of the season high-stakes race. The Jack Roth Memorial Modified Madness will feature the A-mods and B-mods as well as the four-cylinders competing for more prize money.
When Jack Roth was hired to be the Race Director for the 2009 season at the Lafayette County Speedway he had many ideas for the season. One of his ideas was to hold a special race at the end of the season.
Sadly, Jack passed away from pancreatic cancer shortly before the race season started. His wife Marilyn, along with family and friends, rallied to continue the season for Jack. A Jack Roth Memorial had been scheduled, but was rained out.
Jack Roth started racing in 1981 and made it a family event. The Roth's were able to spend great family time together making memories while racing at area tracks. They also made many great friends along the way.
Jack shared his love of racing with his children, who followed in his race tracks. The children passed the number 31 from car to car.
Jack's family and friends are excited to offer the drivers of the Lafayette County Speedway this chance to help make one more memory.
The Jack Roth Memorial Modified Madness hot laps start at 3 p.m.
The winner for A-Mod gets $1,000. First prize for B-Mods is $500. The four-cylinder drivers will be competing for $150 for first place. There will also be many kids bikes and baskets to be given away and also a kids coin contest.
