MONROE - The Monroe Mat Rats have started another year with some strong results.
On New Years Eve the wrestlers attended the Darlington Tournament. In the second- and third- grade group, Max Patterson took third and Logan Blum took fourth. In the third to fourth grade group, Alex Witt took first and Gabe Witt took third.
On Jan. 9, wrestlers headed to Cuba City and Westfield. In Cuba City, Cole Murray took second for the fifth-sixth grade bracket. In Westfield, Brad Brausen took second place in the seventh- and eighth-grade bracket.
Next up for the MAT Rats will be the Oregon Tournament on Jan. 16 and then the Monroe Tournament on Jan. 23. The MAT Rats are looking for volunteers and donations for the Monroe Tournament. Those interested in helping out should contact the Green County YMCA.
