MONROE - The Monroe Mat Rats had 12 wrestlers compete in the Verona Warm-up to Regionals tournament Saturday.
All 12 wrestlers finished in the top eight. The tournament included 570 wrestlers from across the state. The tournament was set up based on birth years and weight, which is similar to the regional tournament.
Aidan Sweeney, in the 2002-03 birth year at the 50-60-pound weight class, finished second. Bodie Minder, in the 2002-03 birth year 93-108 weight class; and Cole Murray, in the 1998-99 birth year, 94 to 103 pound weight class, each took second place.
Brock Hummel, 2000-01 in the 122-134 weight class, and Traiten Gorr (11998-99) 158-174 weight class, each finished third.
McKenzy Foley, in the 1998-99 birth year, 79-104 weight class, took fourth. Jack Duback (2004-05) in the 45-49 weight class, finished fifth; and Parker Ingold (1998-99) at 85-91 took sixth.
Luke Dubach (2002-03) at 60-61, and Dempzy Foley (2000-01) at 79-83, each took seventh. Drake Ingold (2000-01) at 84-93 and Garrett Voegeli (2002-03) at 56-60 each finished eighth.
Three wrestlers attended the Dodgeville tournament. In the kindergarten through second grade level, Dayne Garwell took second. Patrick Rielly took third in the fourth grade bracket and Gavin Jordan finished fourth in the fifth through eighth grade division.
