Low Tide: Cardinals spring upset of first-place Edgerton

BRODHEAD - It took every cog working for the Cardinals to pick up a signature win Friday night over eighth-ranked Edgerton, 40-38.

No Brodhead player scored more than seven points but five scored six or more as it (7-11, 3-9 Rock Valley) trailed after both of the first two quarters but outscored the Crimson Tide, 13-10 and 13-12 in the last two.

Jaocb Cole and Ryan Miller led Brodhead with seven points apiece and Derek Carrier led the Tide with 12.

The victory poses a moral conundrum for Brodhead, as Edgerton loses its game lead in the loss column over storied Cardinals' rival Evansville.

Darlington awoke after trailing 9-5 after a quarter at Highland Friday night and outscored its flat-footed hosts, 37-15, over the next two frames.

Mitchell Erickson led the way with 17 points for Darlington and Ethan Pickett added 14 as he connected four times from 3-point range.
