Zuberbuhler latest to reach career scoring milestone

LIVINGSTON — What’s better than a 13-game winning streak? A 14-game winning streak.

The Darlington Redbirds notched their 14th straight win with a 62-48 victory over the Iowa-Grant Panthers in SWAL conference boys basketball on Thursday, Feb. 12.

Junior Zeke Zuberbuhler pumped in 20 points, including his 1,000th career point and senior Broker Buschor reached double figures with 11 points. The Redbirds are ranked No. 5 in Division 4 in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports boys basketball media poll. They have a two game lead over Mineral Point for first place in the SWAL with three conference games left to play.

Darlington (11-0, 17-2) had a SWAL conference game on their schedule at home against Boscobel on Tuesday, Feb. 17.


Edgerton 54, Brodhead 28

BRODHEAD — A nine point halftime deficit turned into a 26 point loss, 54-28 for the Brodhead Cardinals against the first-place Edgerton Crimson Tide in Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division boys basketball on Thursday, Feb. 12.

The Cardinals were down 26-17 at halftime and couldn’t get a rally going in the second half.

Brodhead was led in scoring by senior Nolan Bump with nine points, followed by senior Sam Searls with seven points.

Brodhead (3-17, 1-10 RVC-Rock) traveled to Evansville to face the Blue Devils in an RVC-Rock game scheduled on Tuesday, Feb. 17.


Albany 61, Juda 40

JUDA — It was just another day at the office for Albany junior Ty Durtschi as he lit up the scoreboard for 37 points to lead the Comets past the Juda Panthers 61-40 in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Thursday, Feb. 12. 

Durtschi made eight three-pointers with five of them in the first half as the Comets got a 32-17 halftime lead. Senior Tyler Patchen also scored in double figures with 11 points help Albany in the win.

The Panthers were led by senior Braydon Steinmann with 15 points. Senior Jayden Brown tallied 12 points for Juda.

Albany (7-13, 5-11 Six Rivers East) hosted Black Hawk on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Juda (10-12, 6-11) is off until Thursday, Feb. 26 when they close the regular season at Barneveld.


Pecatonica 63, Argyle 41

ARGYLE — The Pecatonica Vikings got back on the winning track with a 63-41 win over the Argyle Orioles in Six Rivers East boys basketball on Thursday, Feb. 12.

The Vikings had lost in overtime to Barneveld 83-69 and lost to No. 10 ranked Southwestern 52-43 in their previous two games. They recovered to get their 15th win of the season against the Orioles.

The Vikings beat the Orioles earlier this season with a 65-50 win on Jan. 12 at Blanchardville to get a season sweep. Junior Griffin Noll led the charge for the Vikings with 31 points. Junior Luke Leonard had 17 points including 8-8 at the free throw line.

Argyle was led by senior Deacon Kuebli with 17 points. Senior Jeremiah Collins scored 15 points and connected on three three-pointers for the Orioles.

Pecatonica (15-6, 11-4 Six Rivers East) was scheduled to host Monticello  while Argyle (9-11, 7-7 Six Rivers East) was scheduled to play at Barneveld on Tuesday, Feb. 17 in Six Rivers East Conference action.


Barneveld 81, Black Hawk 33

SOUTH WAYNE — The Barneveld Eagles raced off to a 46-10 halftime lead and came up with a dominating 81-33 win over the Black Hawk Warriors in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Thursday, Feb. 12.

The Eagles got their seventh straight win while the Warriors were dealt their fifth straight loss.

Junior Cole Dunlavey had 10 points and five rebounds while senior Cooper Baumgartner put up nine points and six rebounds to lead the Warriors.

Black Hawk (5-16, 4-11 Six Rivers East) had the Albany Comets on their schedule for a Six Rivers East Conference game at Albany on Tuesday, Feb. 17.


Belmont 60, Monticello 32

BELMONT — The Belmont Braves picked up their 18th win of the season by rolling over the Monticello Ponies 60-32 in a Six Rivers Conference crossover game on Thursday, Feb. 12. The Braves are ranked No. 6 in Division 5 in the Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports boys basketball poll.

Senior Ian Austin led the Braves with 12 points and sophomore Thomas Freeman tacked on 10 points in the win for Belmont (18-2).

For the Monticello Ponies, junior Hunter Grossen led all scorers with 14 points. Senior Evan Ter Hark added eight points. Junior Milo Smith contributed five points and five rebounds.

Monticello (0-19, 0-14 Six Rivers East) was scheduled to play at Barneveld in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Saturday, Feb. 14. The Ponies had another conference game at Pecatonica on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
