OSHKOSH — Several local players participated in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star festivities this past week.

Darlington’s Easton Evenstad and Brady Horne, along with Dain Walter of New Glarus-Monticello and Brodhead-Juda’s Colton Buttke and Gage Boegli were among the players on the South Small School roster.

The North swept all three games — Large School, Small School, and 8-Player — for the first time in since the event expanded to three games in 2015. The games were played July 16 at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.

In the Small School game, the north, which won 25-7, scored the first two touchdowns of the game in the second quarter on passing plays. Ashten Quade tossed an 82-yard TD to Robby Michael at the 10:27 mark, and eight minutes later Quade and Ben Wesolowski connected on a 13-yard TD pass.

The South got on the board with just 13 seconds left in the first half, as Cuba City’s Beau Kopp hit Sam Peiffer on a 28-yard pass.

In the fourth quarter the North received an 8-yard TD run from Brycen Cashin and a 5-yard scoring plunge from Brady Potaczek.

The North out-gained the South 167-23 in rushing yards, and threw for 210 yards to the South’s 196. Overall, the North out-gained the south 377-219.

Boegli had a 12 yard run and finished with three carries for nine yards. He added a catch for six yards. Kopp was 13 of 24 passing for 106 yards. Belleville’s Anthony Nolden had five catches for 38 yards.

On defense, Horne had four tackles, while Nolden, Evenstad and Boegli each had one. Walter and Buttke played offensive line together.

In the Large School game, the North won 21-20, while the North won the 8-Player game 23-6. It was the first time in the event’s history North teams swept all three games.

The games are about more than just football — the event is also a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. More than $350,000 was raised this year.
