SOUTH WAYNE — On Feb. 25, the No. 5 seeded Black Hawk Warriors began postseason play with a 63-33 win over No.12 seed Southwestern in a Division 5 regional quarterfinal. The Warriors were led by Madelynn Place with 24 points. Maddy Lange added 20 points, Reese Anderson scored 10 and Hailey Wellnitz tallied eight points to go along with 11 rebounds.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 15-10 overall. They advance to face the No. 4 seeded Belmont Braves Feb. 28 at Belmont in the regional semifinal.  

Cheesemakers close season with loss to Elkhorn

ELKHORN — The Monroe Cheesemakers will have to wait until next year to snap a 21-game losing streak as they closed the girls basketball season with a 63-15 loss to the Elkhorn Elks on Feb. 25 in a Division 2 regional quarterfinal at Elkhorn. The No. 11 seeded Cheesemakers began the season winning three of their first four games, but dropped their next 21 games to finish the season 3-22. It was the final game for seniors Breanne Kundert, Brinley Roidt, Mackenzie Ruegsegger, and Anastasia Lattin.


Juda end season with loss

PALMYRA — The Juda Panthers finished their season with a 75-55 loss to Palmyra-Eagle in a Division 5 regional quarterfinal on Feb. 25. The No. 13 seeded Panthers, under coach Justy Roth, closed the season with a record of 4-20, but will return their entire roster for the 2025-2026 season as they had no seniors on the team.


New Glarus opens postseason with win

NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus Glarner Knights, a No. 7 seed, outlasted the No. 10 seeded Fennimore Golden Eagles, 50-39 in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Feb. 24. In getting their third straight win, the Glarner Knights improved to 10-13 overall. Next up, New Glarus travels to No. 2 seed Argyle-Pecatonica Feb. 28 in the regional semifinal. Argyle-Pecatonica reached the WIAA State Tournament last year in Division 5. This year, they’ve moved up to Division 4.


Brodhead gets win over Richland Center

BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Cardinals picked up their 5th win in their last six games in their playoff opener over the Richland Center Hornets 63-20 Feb. 25 in a Division 3 regional quarterfinal. The Cardinals, a No.7 seed, will go on the road to face No. 2 seed Platteville on Feb. 28 in a regional semifinal. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 13-11 for the season.


Redbirds defeat Westby

DARLINGTON — Freshman Lexie Meyers connected on five three-pointers to lead the Darlington Redbirds to a 51-23 win over Westby in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal Feb. 25. Meyers led the Redbirds (16-8) with 17 points and junior Maddie Gratz chipped in 10 points. 

The No. 6 seeded Redbirds advanced to the regional semifinal on Feb. 28 to take on the No. 3 seeded Belleville Wildcats on the road. Belleville had a first-round bye.
