Warriors make it 59 straight

SOUTH WAYNE — The Warriors wasted little time in putting away the Orioles 81-39 in a Six Rivers East game Jan. 2. It was the program’s 59th-straight victory, dating back to the season opener in 2018.

The top-ranked team in Division 5 led 58-18 at halftime, including 19 points each from Bailey Butler and Kaylee Marty. Butler finished the night with 31 points, while Marty had a career-high 22. Butler added 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 8 steals. Tara Wellnitz had 10 rebounds and Makayla Mau added 9 points.

Tori Lantz led Argyle with 16 points, while Grace Ganshert had 12 points and 9 boards and Maggie Godfrey 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Orioles committed 30 turnovers in the game, compared to Black Hawk’s 9. The Warriors made more field goals (31) than Argyle attempted (26).


Argyle 58, Benton 37

ARGYLE — In a Dec. 29 victory over the Zephyrs, Grace Ganshert scored 20 points and added five steals and Maggie Godfrey had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, plus 5 steals.

Argyle led 34-15 at halftime.


Belmont 71, Argyle 70, OT

BELMONT — The Orioles let a 10-point halftime lead slip away and found themselves on the losing end in overtime Dec. 28.

Maggie Godfrey’s 23 points paced the Orioles, while Ganshert had 21 points, Tori Lantz 10 and Chesney Leigh 7. Godfrey made it a double-double with 13 rebounds.

The Orioles committed 33 turnovers and 30 fouls in the loss, with three players fouling out and three more completing the game with four fouls.


Albany 51, Pecatonica 20

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Comets jumped out to a 34-13 halftime lead and then held the Vikings to just 7 points in the second half of their game Dec. 28.

Albany’s Gracie Freitag scored 15 points to lead all scorers, while Brianna Dahl had 10 and Alana Durtschi had 9. Chloe Schraepfer led Pecatonica with 7 points.


Dodgeville 54, Darlington 40

DODGEVILLE — The Redbirds lost to the host Dodgers at the Dec. 29 Dodgeville Tournament. 

Cayla Golackson led Darlington with 10 points, while Taylor Wedig had 7. Olivia Argall of Dodgeville led all scorers with 25 points.

Dodgeville led 21-15 at halftime.
