Two-goal third lifts Fury

BARABOO — Rock County Fury moved into a tie for first in the Badger Conference with a 4-2 win over the Badger Lightning on Friday, Dec. 16.

The Fury went down 2-0 before registering their first goal thanks to a shot from Emma Kligora. The Lightning had a quick response, as they scored exactly one minute later. 

With Caludia Boehlke in the penalty box, Amery Stuckey scored a short-handed goal to cut the deficit to just one. 

Boehlke scored her second goal of the game in the third with an assist from Ava Kligora. Down a skater for the sixth time in the game, the Fury scored another short-handed goal, this time from Ava Kligora. 

The goal gave Rock County the lead, while the defense held strong for the remaining 10:44 to record the win.

Despite 16 penalty minutes for the Fury, the Lightning were unable to capitalize, going 0-for-8 on the power play. The trio of Ava Kligora, Emma Kligora and Amery Stuckey led the Fury with two points each. In goal, Jillian Traver recorded 41 saves.


REEDSBURG 5, MONROE 2

REEDSBURG — Despite scoring the opening goal, the Cheesemakers dropped a conference game to Baraboo on Friday, Dec. 16.

Wyatt Janecke scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Cash Anderson, but the Beavers scored three unanswered goals to take the lead. Gavin Roth capped the second period with a goal to make it 3-2.

Reedsburg scored twice in the third period while holding Monroe scoreless to secure the win.

Kyle Theorin got the start in net, recording 32 saves while giving up five goals. Conversely, Alex Griebe saved 16 shots with two goals.


MADISON WEST 9, BELOIT MEMORIAL 3

MADISON — The Regents outscored the Purple Knights 3-1 in each period during a conference matchup on Saturday, Dec 17.

Cy Potter and Nathan Fiebig each scored an unassisted goal, while Jayden Piccione’s second-period goal was assisted by Payton Whalen. Beloit had four power-play opportunities and scored on just one of them.

In net, Jameson Flanagan saw 50 shots on goal, saving nine of them for an .820 save percentage. Madison’s Willam Zinnen recorded 22 saves.
