BARABOO — In a test before the conference meet in Baraboo on Oct. 29, the Monroe-New Glarus swimming co-op came up short 136-81 against the Thunderbirds.
Megan Chapman won two individual races and swam in two relays to collect 24 of the team’s 81 points. For the second straight meet, she took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.43) and 500-yard freestyle (5:34.74).
The relay team composed of Chapman, Riley Hoesly, Anna Zentner and Delaney Lynch finished first in the 400-yard freestyle (3:54.7) and second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.43). Individually, Hoesly, Zentner and Lynch also performed well; each had a second- and third-place finish.
Hoesly edged Rachel Laux of Baraboo by one-tenth of second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.93, 2nd) and trailed teammate Amelia Geib in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.39, 3rd). Geib took second in the race with her time of 1:05.76.
Zentner took second in the 200-yard IM (2:26.39) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.87) behind Lynch (1:04.12, 2nd). In the 500-yard freestyle, Lynch took third with a time of 5:54.56.
Danika Doll also took a top-four individual finish. She paced NGM in the 100-yard freestyle with her time of 1:04.28 (3rd). Doll also participated in two relays that took fourth: the 200-yard freestyle relay with Piper Faber, Amalia Morrison and Maggie Piper (1:56.65) and the 400-yard freestyle relay with Geib, Morrison and Kristina Foley (4:26.89).
The final varsity relay of Geib, Faber, Piper and Morrison finished third in the 200-yard medley with a time of 2:07.77.
Individually, Faber had two fourth-place finishes. She finished the 50-yard freestyle in 28.31 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:23.75. Geib had one individual fourth-place finish with her time of 2:28.34 in the 200-yard IM.
Monroe-New Glarus will be back in Baraboo for the conference meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.
