Sweeps in the Six Rivers Conference

MONROE — The 2024 conference volleyball season kicked off Tuesday, Sept. 3. Five of the six local Six Rivers East teams competed, and all matches ended in three-set sweeps.

Argyle was the only team not to play. The Orioles opened league play with a game against Albany on Thursday, Sept. 5. Results will be in the Wednesday, Sept. 11 edition of the Monroe Times.


PECATONICA 3, BLACK HAWK 0

BLANCHARDVILLE — Despite an extended first set, the Vikings defeated the Warriors 29-27, 25-21, 25-15.

“I have been incredibly proud of how quickly these ladies have been able to adapt to a new lineup over just a few days,” first-year Pecatonica head coach Melissa Schlimgen said. “Our starting setter, junior Tatum Kurshner, endured an injury late last week, forcing us to make some lineup adjustments. Through these adjustments, our ladies were able to step up and play their game.”

Serving was at the forefront of Pecatonica’s game with 17 total aces. Madelyn Cleary tallied five, Loretta Tisch four, and Mikaela Gross and Aleah Harris three each.

Tisch also recorded 16 kills, followed by Cleary with seven and Gross with three. Lila Schlimgen, Diana Hendrickson and Tisch combined for 14 assists.

Black Hawk had no stats to report.


MONTICELLO 3, JUDA 0

MONTICELLO — The Ponies beat the Panthers in three sets 25-10, 25-19, 25-11. 

Dalana Trumpy, Jillian Ryan and Kennadee Johnson led the Pony attack with the most kills. Newcomer Sylvia Wahl chipped in crucial aces and digs.

Juda had no stats to report.


BARNEVELD 3, ALBANY 0

ALBANY — The Comets fell short against the Six Rivers East defending champion Eagles 25-11, 25-19, 25-17.

Anna Ellinger led with eight kills and three blocks. Kierra Cleasby notched 12 digs, while Ellie Modaff distributed the offense with 16 assists.
