Sugar River closes in on yet another Capitol Conference title

CAMBRIDGE — The Sugar River Raiders are a step closer to a Capitol Conference title after a 2-1 win over Cambridge-Deerfield-Waterloo on Tuesday, Oct. 7. 

Tikeh Tazeh scored a goal on a penalty kick at 29:18 in the first half for the Raiders. The two teams were tied 1-1 at halftime. In the second half, Owen Griffin scored what proved to be the winning goal with an assist by Tazeh at 61:50. Sugar River’s defense shut out CDW the rest of the way.

The win puts Sugar River in the driver’s seat for the Capitol Conference title. The Raiders (11-3-1, 5-1) hosted Lodi at New Glarus on Thursday, Oct. 9 in the final conference game of the season.
