BELLEVILLE — Despite dropping two spots in the Division 3 rankings, Sugar River came out strong against River Valley for a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday, Oct. 3. It was the Raiders’ seventh shutout of the season behind goalkeeper Clayton Streiff.
All scoring occurred in the second half, where Aiden Hatleberg and Brycen Teasdale scored two goals each. Nathan Hendrickson scored the first goal of the night. In total, the Raiders had 23 shot attempts with 10 of them on goal.
Conversely, River Valley had just two shots on goal, with one save by Strieff and the other by Caden Betts.
The Raiders have just one conference game left against Lake Mills on Tuesday, Oct. 10. With a win, Sugar River would claim the Capitol Conference title outright for the sixth straight season.
In other local soccer, Monroe fell to Big Foot 7-1 with a goal from Hassan Mustafa.
