BELLEVILLE — Sugar River improved to 5-0-1 after winning the Raider Invite on Saturday, April 20. The Raiders, ranked No. 10 in Division 3, defeated Janesville Parker 6-0 and edged Monona Grove in a shootout, 3-2.

In Game 1, Bella Brenkman led all scorers with two goals. Zoey Lovejoy, Brooke Warrell, Kennedi Esser and Anya Brenkman also scored. Jenna Gentilli and Anya Brenkman tallied two assists, and Warrell chipped in one. The defense didn’t allow a single shot on goal as neither Alice Neton or Eve Maclean had to make a save.

In the championship game, neither team scored in regulation. In the shootout, Addison Lutz made three PK saves, while Haley Thompson, Jenna Gentilli and Audry Brueggemann scored.

LAKE MILLS — With six goals against the L-Cats in a Capitol Conference game, Sugar River’s Anya Brenkman became the program’s third all-time leading scorer with 73 goals. She was tied with Vanessa Narveson and Bri Hauge, both from New Glarus. Megan Scheele is second with 77 goals, while Hannah Kernen has the program’s most goals with 131.

At the time, Anya Brenkman had scored 17 goals in four games, putting her on pace to score 60 in the regular season. That would break her previous single-season goal record (38) by more than 20.
